Clare GAA would like to remember Bernie Hoey, late of Roslevan and Clooney.
He was a native of Clooney and played for them at underage and adult level.
Bernie represented Clare at minor level for three years, 1951, 1952 and 1953 at full back and also won a Harty cup with St Flannans in 1952.
Following on from an impressive underage career Bernie was called onto the Clare Senior Hurling panel in September 1955 and from then until the end of the 1961 Munster championship, he was a regular on the Clare team.
Bernie studied Ag Science and won Fitzgibbon cup honours with UCD.
He was a member of the Clare team that played in the Wembley exhibition against Kilkenny in 1958. His duties outside of manning the full back spot saw the versatile defender operate in both wing back roles and also at right corner back.
He was predeceased by his son Ger and sadly missed by his loving wife Bridget, children John, Maeve, David and Sarah.
