Press Release – 23.02.2024 Clare GAA Coaching Officer Upskilling Night
Clare GAA Coaching & Games recently held a Coaching Officer upskilling night for all club coaching officers in the county. This inaugural event was an idea put forward from the Coaching & Games committee in 2023 and was very well attended . It was an extremely productive night with great discussion and engagement by all officers , which included many former Clare footballers, hurlers and coaches. The course was organised by the staff of Clare GAA Coaching & Games group under the fantastic management of our GDM, Micheál Duffy.
Focusing upon the role of a Clare club Coaching Officer, a survey was conducted prior to the night with all clubs and stimulated great debate and discussion around the challenges encountered. Solutions were broken down into 7 topics concerning the challenges faced by club coaching officers and the various support structures that can be provided through different IT platform, player & coaching pathways, knowledge transfers, Clare GDC’s and the human resources at Clare GAA.
Commenting, Neil O’Brien, Clare County Board Coaching and Games Officer, praised the staff of Clare GAA for conducting and delivering the course. “It’s fantastic to have such a great, ambitious, vibrant and energetic workforce which can be seen delivering on the ground for all young players in Co. Clare. It’s great also to see so many clubs attending and getting involved in discussions. Naturally, it’s quite heartening for the lads presenting when there are such great contributions from the floor. We look forward to similar events being organised throughout the calendar and seeing meaningful development and support for coaching standards in our clubs.
